Adventures in Golf...

after some difficuties, my dad, brother, sister, and i managed to make our way to a driving range that actually would dispense golf balls in return for our money. once that great feat was accomplished, we progressed to the next task of actually learning how to hit a golf ball. doesn't sound so difficult, but there's a reason my foot coordination is better than my hand-eye coordination. anyway, i managed to get a few good hits in, in spite of myself and my obvious lack of golfing experience. my brother and sister fared much better than i, learning from my dad, the only one in the group who actually knows what he's doing :) anyway, it was a generally enjoyable experience, and perhaps with practice i could be at the next master's tournament. that was sarcasm, in case you didn't catch it.

Rubik's Cube

we've developed a recent obsession with the rubik's cube. its actually quite fascinating how many parallels there are to life. you start solving everything with the white cross. if you come to a problem, you have to look at it from a different viewpoint to make sense of it. nothing is impossible. you can cheat and peel the stickers off, but it doesn't really work until you start at the root of the problem. sometimes frustrating, but its really fun! and you can take cool pictures. i can't take credit for this one, but i still thought it was sweet :)

Not something you see every day...

yesterday i was hanging out by the counter when my dad came and asked me to plug something in. i did so with no notice of what that "something" i was plugging in was. when i finally looked again, i did a double take. there was my dad, standing next to me, pointing a hair dryer into the freezer, saying "nope. cord's not long enough." i burst out laughing. what on EARTH could he be doing?!?! it now makes sense, however. our ice maker in the freezer hasn't been working, and my dad thought it was because part of it was frozen over... he was trying to melt it. so it DID have a logical explanation. all the same, it did appear quite ridiculous at first. it still makes me smile. they were trying it again today when i took this picture. unfortunately, the ice maker is still broken.

Daisies... (6-8-10)

my friend (who is waaaaaaaay better with a camera than i am) and i spent most of the day yesterday playing and experimenting with the camera! it has a cool color switching feature... its kind of fun to mess with colors like that :)

the beginning... (6-7-10)

this is the first picture ever taken with this camera! i can only hope that my photography skills will improve with time...

Picture of the Day

my grandparents just got me a new camera for my graduation present! it is very pretty and orange. i thought i might kill two stones with one bird in this way: make use of my camera and keep posting on my blog by posting a picture of the day! so i will start. enjoy!

speaking of speeches...

So i'm the valedictorian for my class. i wouldn't recommend it. it means you have to write a speech, something that i am currently trying to do. i'm sure you've noticed from the fact that i'm writing on my blog that its not going so well. actually, i take that back. its going really well. i have this in my head, i'm just having trouble getting it into coherant thoughts on paper. if anyone has any brilliant and inspirational ideas, please let me know! i'm all for hearing them. if not, prayers are much appreciated! for the time being i'd recommend salutatorian. you get a title, but have to do absolutely nothing! best of both worlds! now back to actually being productive (i hope)...

And again I appear...

So, here I am on blogger again. I'm thinking about maybe doing this continuously, especially documenting my possible adventures in college. so maybe I will, but be warned i may lose the will to do so very soon...
